Product Details

Dark green foliage provides just the right backdrop for the clouds of 1” white, Daisy-like blooms with sunny yellow centers that smother this vigorous, carefree, long-blooming Japanese Aster. The floriferous, self-cleaning perennial takes heat, humidity and drought in stride and keeps on blooming, lighting up the garden from early summer to fall. A must-have for moon gardens.

Kalimeris is a genus of hardy clump-forming herbaceous perennials in the Asteraceae family. Originating in open meadows in northeast Asia, they are counterparts to native North American native asters (Symphotrichum and Eurybia spp.) and Boltonias and are similar in culture and appearance.

Shipping
Every state has agricultural regulations that restrict the shipment of certain plants. We're sorry, but we cannot ship this item to the following states: California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-503-9624 or email us at [email protected]. Please include your order number or customer number when contacting us.

Shorter than “Becky”, less hardy

I planted 5 of these a few years ago, along with “Becky” a taller Daisy. All of them grew beautifully, but this in spring all of the Daisy Mae had died ?. Everything else in my flower bed was fine - I’m not sure what happened.

These plants were lovely, but possibly not as longterm as other perennials.

Plant Kalimeris in average, moderately moist, but well-drained soil in full sun. They are drought-tolerant once established, but are subject to root rot in poorly drained soil. Tidy clumps with long-lasting abundant blooms are easy and generally trouble-free, even where summers are hot and humid.

Pinch or chop back stems in early summer for compact, densely branched plants with more flowers. Shear stems after flowering to encourage a second flush of bloom in fall. Like asters and Boltonias, birds will feed on seeds in fall and winter and they may re-seed in the garden
