If you have an area or your home or office that could use a striking, stylish, remarkably low-maintenance houseplant, Zamioculcas zamiifolia Raven® ZZ should be at the top of the list. This intriguing succulent has nearly rigid, upright branches that resemble a masterful metal sculpture. New leaves emerge bright green before deepening to a glossy black-green with purple undertones. Raven’s watering needs are similar to those of a cactus, requiring only intermittent hydration and preferring the soil to dry out between waterings. Plants are slow-growing, and while they thrive in bright indirect light, they can also survive in low-lit areas including offices or other spaces with fluorescent lighting. Avoid placing Raven® in direct sunlight, which may scald those otherworldly dark and glossy leaves. Please note: All parts of Zamioculcas zamiifolia Raven® ZZ contain a toxin that can irritate the skin or, if ingested, cause tummy trouble. We recommend wearing gloves when repotting or dividing your plant, and keeping Raven away from young children and pets. Shipped in a 7" wide x 6½" tall woven basket, with liner.

Our houseplants appear generously sized in our photos. They are representative of the sizes we ship to you.

WEATHER PERMITTING - Working with Mother Nature

In our business, we work closely with Mother Nature. In the colder months when we stipulate that an item is shipped “weather permitting”, that means temperatures outside our shipping facility in northwestern Connecticut and along the shipping route must be warm enough for tender plants to survive in unheated delivery trucks. Our practice of waiting for windows of milder weather may result in the occasional delay, but our customers tend to appreciate the care we take to make certain their plants arrive in the very best possible condition. Questions? Don’t hesitate to call our customer service staff at 1-800-411-6159.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED

The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.

WHEN WE SHIP

We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

OUR GUARANTEE

We guarantee to ship plants that are in prime condition for growing. If your order is damaged or fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace or refund it. Please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-503-9624 or email us at [email protected]. Please include your order number or customer number when contacting us.

Latin Name Pronunciation: zam-ee-oh-kul'-kass

Zamioculcas is a low-maintenance succulent houseplant with easy requirements for care. It can be treated similar to other succulents.

LIGHT: Zamioculcas is very adaptable, and does well in rooms with low light and even fluorescent lighting, but will thrive in bright indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight as this can cause browning of the leaves.

WATERING: Water about every 2-3 weeks allowing the soil to dry out entirely between waterings. The plant has tuber-like roots that retain water. If the potting mix stays wet, the plant's roots can begin to rot. Reduce watering to once monthly in the winter.

TEMPERATURE: Provide room temperatures around 55-80°F.

FERTILIZER: Use a balanced (18-18-18) houseplant fertilizer, such as White Flower Farm's Grow Fertilizer, once or twice a year. Apply in the spring and again in the summer.

REPOTTING: Zamioculcas is very slow growing and will only need repotting about every 2-3 years. At that time, the plant can also be divided.

Please note: All parts of Zamioculcas contain oxalates, which can be toxic. It can irritate the skin or, if ingested, cause tummy trouble. We recommend wearing gloves when repotting or dividing your plant, and keeping Zamioculcas away from young children and pets.
