Product Details
Content in full sun or full shade, upright Aconitum x cammarum ‘Bicolor’ brings splendid late-season color to the garden with masses of hooded blossoms in shades of violet blue and white. The plant’s form tends to be denser in full sun and airier but no less attractive in shade. Winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
The genus Aconitum includes many stunningly beautiful varieties whose shapely late-summer flowers and handsome, deeply cut foliage can carry a border through the dog days until Chrysanthemums come into flower. Aconitums thrive on good soil and do as well in light shade as in sun. They need reliable moisture during droughty spells and will perish where water stands, but otherwise seem willing to prosper for many years with minimal attention. All parts are very poisonous and should not be planted near vegetables or where children play.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.
WHEN WE SHIP
We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. We also ship a wide range of containers and planters, tools, supplies, fertilizers, garden wear, garden decor items, as well as indoor decorations like wreaths and dried bouquets when available. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the green Shipping Details box for each item. Please supply a street address for delivery. Kindly contact us with two weeks notice, if you'll be away at the expected time of delivery.

Latin Name Pronunciation: a-ko-nye'tum
SPACING: 18-24in, DEPTH: Level (potted)/1in (bareroot).
CULTURE: Good rich, evenly moist but well-drained soil. Full sun to partial shade (partial shade is required in warm inland areas of the West). Fares poorly in hot, dry sites. Slow to become established but in time forms impressive clumps. Long lived where conditions suit it. In partial shade, 'Sparks Variety' may require staking, or a sturdy neighbor, to keep it upright. Deer and rabbit resistant.
PROBLEMS: Seldom has disease or pest problems. All parts are very poisonous and should not be planted near vegetables or where children play.
SUGGESTED USE: Good addition for the back of the border, or for a cutting garden. Combines well with Echinacea, Helenium and fall-blooming Anemone.
