One of the Dutch Irises, 'Apollo' has robust stems carrying unusually large blooms, to 6″ across. The white standards have a milky blue cast, set off by yellow falls with buttercup blotches. PP 4,279
These colorful hybrids make impressive clumps among perennials in the middle of the border. Give them an open, sunny site and forget about watering in summer—they would be happier on the dry side. They grow best in well-drained soil that has a pH close to neutral.
Dutch Iris are beautiful with Roses, Peonies, Oriental Poppies, Alliums, and Foxgloves, and are valued for their long life in a vase. You may have noticed them at your local florist shop or cut-flower market.

HOW PLANTS ARE SHIPPED
The size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock of transplanting. For some, this means a large, bareroot crown. Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in containers. We ship these perennials and annuals in 1 pint pots, except as noted. We must point out that many perennials will not bloom the first year after planting, but will the following year, amply rewarding your patience. We ship bulbs as dormant, bare bulbs, sometimes with some wood shavings or moss. Shrubs, Roses, vines, and other woody plants may be shipped bareroot or in pots. The size of the pot is noted in the quick facts for each item.
WHEN WE SHIP
We ship our bulbs and plants at the right time for planting in your area, except as noted, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served basis by climate zone. Estimated dates for shipping are indicated in the Shipping Details box for each item. Please refer to the Shipping Details box to determine the earliest shipping time. Unless you specify otherwise, fertilizers, tools, and other non-plant items are shipped with your plants or bulbs. Please supply a street address for delivery. nana from Mont Belvieu, Tx
I ordered 50 and planted in two groups, abt 2 wks apart. Planted with daffodils in clumps of 6-8. They were lovely. I do treat these as an annual, because I find that they do not repeat well where I live (southeast texas - my soil is heavy with clay too)
Garden Bee from Lexington, KY
I planted the bulbs in several prepared beds in various conditions amongst other WFF bulbs and perennials. They shot their leaves up in November, much to my surprise, but I just assumed that they were one of those bulbs that put out some fall foliage. Well, of course the foliage died over the winter. I kept waiting for them to put up more and try again in the spring, but they didn't. I only got to see flowers from the 3 bulbs planted by the mailbox.
