The practice of grafting, used in orchards and vineyards for thousands of years, creates the best of two worlds: a vigorous rootstock is fused to the top part of another plant valued for its fruit or flowers. By marrying a vigorous, disease-resistant rootstock to flavorful varieties, this ancient horticultural technique makes heirloom Tomatoes both more productive and more resistant to soil-borne pests and diseases. Try this collection of three of our customer favorites and see the difference yourself. One each of grafted 'Cherokee Purple', 'Mortgage Lifter', and 'San Marzano'. Grafted Tomatoes should be planted at soil level so that the graft line, indicated by green tie tape, remains above ground.
Our stocky seedlings are grown and shipped in 3in pots that are a full 4in deep, so the plants you receive have strong, well-developed root systems. For more information on growing and care, click Growing Guide.
